Victoria Morrison-Hughes, Costs Consultant

Victoria is head of Burcher Jennings’ Manchester office and joined the firm in early 2016. A qualified Costs Lawyer with a degree in accountancy and finance, coupled with extensive experience working as a lawyer in high street practice provides Victoria with unique insight into both the operational and technical demands of a legal business. Her main areas of expertise include commercial litigation, clinical negligence, catastrophic injury, Court of Protection and solicitor & own client disputes together with Costs management and negotiations.  Victoria’s primary focus is on providing excellent client care and service where her priority rests on quality and ensuring clients receive a bespoke service.

Victoria qualified in 1997, one year ahead of the standard process for using the status of Associate of Association of Law Costs Draftsmen. Victoria quickly qualified as a Fellow and gained Costs Lawyer status in the first round of accreditation. During the initial part of her career, where she assisted with client care and training whilst dealing with mainly with clinical negligence, catastrophic injury and commercial litigation matters.  She was then headhunted to work as Head of Costs at a reputable city centre firm which specialised in the personal injury market both in Fast Track PI together with complex clinical negligence and catastrophic injury cases particularly against the MOD.

Prior to joining forces with Bucher Jennings, Victoria had established and managed Kings Legal Costings, which she led for 11 years - establishing very quickly a core set of clients gained principally through recommendation/word of mouth with some businesses becoming clients after she had opposed them on detailed assessment.
